Protection

Protect your hair from heat, friction and drying out.

Our hair is constantly stressed by factors such as heat, friction, chemical treatments and harsh ingredients. That's why you should protect your hair as much as possible by reducing hair-damaging factors.

1. Harsh surfactants strip your hair's protective lipid and can cause dryness. We recommend mild and sulfate-free shampoos.

2. Friction that occurs when combing can strain the already rough curl structure. Although wet hair is less stable, the frictional resistance when combing curls dry is very high. Therefore, use a conditioning product that improves the wet combability of your hair and reduces friction when combing. For curls, we also recommend using a wide-toothed comb instead of a brush. Due to the widely spaced teeth, the comb does not break up the curls as much as a brush does.

3. A rough towel structure, e.g. with terry cloth, causes friction and also roughens the hair surface. Wrap your wet hair in a towel with a smooth finish, such as microfiber. A sustainable alternative are towels made from organic bamboo. Also, you should never rub your hair dry. This can also roughen the surface of your hair and also lead to knots that then have to be combed out with difficulty.

4. The sharp temperature difference between cold, wet hair and the sudden heat of the hair dryer is a real temperature shock for the hair. This promotes moisture loss and can promote dryness. Since drying in the air is very time-consuming, we recommend wrapping your hair in an absorbent towel for a few minutes. Then let the towel-dried hair, pinned up with a clip, air-dry for a few minutes before finally using the hair dryer on a cold or medium setting. For curly hair, we also recommend a diffuser attachment that evenly distributes the airflow.

5. The greatest stress on our hair is coloring. Not everyone wants to do without different hair colors or covering up the first gray hairs. Here it is important to restore moisture to the hair and to regularly use a care product that can retain moisture in the hair to counteract drying out.

Our hair is constantly stressed by factors such as heat, friction, chemical treatments and harsh ingredients. Therefore, you should protect your hair as much as possible by reducing factors that damage your hair.

1. Aggressive surfactants remove the protective lipid of your hair and can lead to dryness. We recommend mild and sulfate-free shampoos.

2. Friction caused by combing can stress the rough curl structure. Although wet hair is more fragile, the frictional friction is very high when combing curls dry. Therefore, use a conditioning product that improves the wet combability of your hair and reduces friction during combing. For curls, we also recommend using a coarse tooth comb instead of a brush. Because of the widely spaced teeth, the comb will not break up the curl bundle as much as a brush would.

3. A rough towel structure, e.g. with terry cloth, causes friction and raises the surface of the hair even more. Wrap your wet hair in a towel with a smooth surface, e.g. microfibre. A sustainable alternative to microfibre are towels made from organic bamboo. Also, never rub your hair dry. This can also roughen the surface of your hair and lead to knots that need to be combed out afterwards.

4. The large difference in temperature between cold, wet hair and the sudden heat of the hairdryer is a real temperature shock for the hair. This promotes moisture loss and can encourage dryness. As air drying alone is very time-consuming, we recommend wrapping the hair in an absorbent towel for a few minutes. Then leave the damp hair to air-dry for a few minutes before using a blow-dryer on a cold or medium setting. For curly heads, we also recommend using a diffuser attachment to distribute the airflow evenly.

5. the biggest stress on our hair is colouring. Not everyone wants to give up hair colouring or covering the first grey hairs. This is where it is important to restore moisture to the hair and regularly use a care product that can retain moisture in the hair to counteract drying.

You can support your curls with simple means.

Our conclusion is that you don't need to spend hours and hours on a hair care routine to support and sustain your hair and especially your curls.

  • avoid aggressive surfactants
  • reduce friction by using coarse towels
  • do not brush your curls dry
  • use a conditioner that improves wet combability e.g. Amazing Curls Leave-In Cream
  • use a comb rather than a brush
  • blow-dry your curls lukewarm or cold
  • after colouring, moisturise and nourish your hair
