Ingredient Check

In the Ingredient Check we introduce you to certain ingredients.

Here we would like to highlight and introduce you to some of the ingredients contained in the Amazing Curls Leave-In Cream. Where do these herbal ingredients come from and what are their special properties that make them so valuable for our hair care product.

Sacha Inchi Oil

The Sacha Inchi plant is a herbaceous vine of the Euphorbiacae family. It comes from the rainforests of the Peruvian Andes and was cultivated there a few centuries ago by the indigenous population in the Amazon region of Peru and processed into oil for use as a cosmetic.Sacha Inchi oil is a real all-rounder as it has an exceptional fatty acid profile and is therefore considered a very valuable edible oil in terms of nutritional physiology. When used in cosmetic products, the Sacha Inchi oil has a moisturizing effect and prevents moisture loss. When used in hair care products, the omega fatty acids contained care for brittle ends and counteract frizz. Sacha Inchi Oil is said to give dry hair shine and suppleness.

Tucuma Butter

The Tucumã tree grows in the Amazon region, especially in Brazil. A mature Tucumã tree can produce up to 5 clusters of fruit each year, each containing around 300 fruits. An important aspect for us is the harvest from wild collections. This means that only the fruits of trees growing in nature are harvested and only as much as nature can do without. There are many advantages: - The plants and soil are natural and are not contaminated with pesticides. - By the renunciation of monoculture plantations will preserve the natural diversity of species.

- Wild collections have a long tradition and are an important source of income, especially in structurally weak regions. - This increases the local motivation to protect stocks and harvest sustainably. We use Tucumã butter in the Amazing Curls Leave-In Cream because it is excellent for dry, damaged hair and against split ends. It penetrates the hair cuticle to compensate for the loss of structuring lipids. It has a moisturizing and smoothing effect, so that the hair regains its elasticity and strength.

Myrica Wax (Laurel Wax)

Myrica Wax is extracted from the berry skins of the Latin American Myrica Pubescens tree. However, the term "wax" is somewhat misleading since waxes are defined by hydrophobic organic compounds with long alkyl chains. Myrica wax differs from this in that it has no double bonds and contains saturated triglycerides and diglycerides as the dominant acids. For this reason, it is more of a natural "hydrogenated" oil in a solid form. Myrica wax is characterized by other special features. It supports the conditioning effect of a cosmetic product and can reduce the stickiness of the texture. It also combines a low melting point of around 40 - 50°C with a high degree of hardness. This supports a natural and light hold, which makes this ingredient very interesting for a curling product. As a comparison: Shea butter has a melting point between 34 - 44°C, while other plant waxes such as Candelilla wax melt at 78 - 73°C and Carnuba wax at 80 - 86°C. So, in terms of melting point, Myrica Wax is more like (and even overlaps with) Shea Butter than the above examples of traditional vegetable waxes.Myrica Wax is a wonderful ingredient with great benefits Characteristics. It is also "safe" according to the definition of the so-called Curly Girl/Hair method, as it is a solid oil and not wax.

Babassu Oil

Babassu Oil is not liquid but has a solid, paste-like form. Since the melting point is around 21 - 26 °C, it melts immediately on contact with the skin and can be spread wonderfully. It is also absorbed very quickly and leaves the skin feeling soft and silky. Babassu Oil is a light, cooling and moisturizing oil. Because it has a high proportion of lauric acid (approx. 40%), Babassu oil has a slightly antimicrobial effect. Used in hair care products, it is said to strengthen and moisturize the hair. Babassu oil is also said to protect against environmental influences and has an effect against split ends and frizz. For all these reasons, this great ingredient should not be missing in our Amazing Curls Leave-In Cream!
